Jeju City, March 7, 2025 – Alipay+, a unified wallet gateway with cross-border payment and digitisation services under Ant International, is deepening its partnership with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province to further enhance the travel experience for international visitors. As part of this expanded collaboration, users of 14 mobile payment apps partnering with Alipay+ will be able to make digital transaction via a new dynamic QR code payment system on local buses by summer of 2025, streamlining digital payments for foreign travellers.
This initiative follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Jeju, Alipay+, and other payment partners. The upgraded system will replace traditional static QR codes with dynamic QR codes displayed on digital payment terminals installed in the buses. This smart solution can automatically calculate fares based on boarding details, eliminating the need for manual fare input and ensuring a frictionless digital payment experience.
With its extensive mobile payment partner network, Alipay+ enables travellers to pay using their preferred e-wallets. Users of Alipay (Chinese mainland), AlipayHK (Hong Kong SAR, China), MPay (Macao SAR, China), TrueMoney (Thailand), Touch ‘n Go eWallet (Malaysia), OCBC Digital (Singapore), Changi Pay (Singapore), Hipay (Mongolia), HelloMoney and GCash (The Philippines), and Tinaba (Italy), Kbank (Thailand), Kaspi (Kazachstan), BigPay (Malaysia) will be able to pay for bus rides by simply scanning the dynamic QR code on the payment terminal, making public transit more accessible and user-friendly.

Jeju has long been a key destination for global travelers, and Alipay+ has actively worked to enhance visitor's payment experience. In July 2024, Alipay+ partnered with Jeju to introduce QR code-based payments on over 800 buses across the island via ZeroPay, allowing visitors 14 wallets to use their own mobile payment apps for public transit at that time to use their own mobile payment apps for public transit.
In addition to working with Jeju, Alipay+ continues to expand its partnerships to improve payment accessibility for the public transportation network across South Korea:
· Korail Partnership: Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) launched its ticket booking service within the Alipay App, allowing Chinese tourists to seamlessly search train schedules, select seats, make payments, and check tickets—all within a dedicated Korail mini-program. This provides greater convenience for nationwide train travel (excluding Jeju Island).
· NAMANE X Alipay+ Transportation Pass: In February 2025, I-Aurora, a leading provider of payment solutions for foreign tourists, introduced a prepaid transportation card in collaboration with Alipay+. The card can be pre-purchased via the Alipay App and allows visitors to use buses and subways across Korea without needing additional top-ups during its validity period. Travelers can check online for details about specific regions and bus routes. Going forward, this transportation pass will be accessible through more Alipay+ mobile payment partners.
In additional to transportation, Alipay+ and its mobile payment partners are extending convenient digital payment services across hospitality, shopping, dining, entertainment, and other essential aspects of the travel experience, supporting foreign visitors to fully enjoy the K-life with ease.
